FEDERATION OF DISABLED WORKERS OF SLOVENIA
The Federation of Disabled Workers of Slovenia unites:
- disabled workers:
- of the first category; if they can no longer carry out organised profitable work or if they have a defined status of occupational disability but have no remaining capacity for work;
- of the second category; if ability to carry out an occupation is reduced by 50% or more;
- of the third category; if they can no longer carry out full time work with or without prior occupational rehabilitation but they can carry out certain work at least part-time or if their ability to carry out an occupation is reduced by less than 50% or if they can still carry out their occupation on the full-time basis but can no longer carry out work at the work place to which they are placed;
and other people with disability
who do not have the status of disabled workers but are due to acquired or inborn disabilities and impediments conditioned or caused by the physical and social environment unable to satisfy partly or completely the needs of a personal, family and social life in the environment in which they live and work.
In 69 associations there are 37,662 disabled workers and 13,179 people with disability without the status of disabled workers.
The tasks of the Federation of Disabled Workers of Slovenia are:
to offer help in asserting the needs of disabled workers in the field of health protection, medical and social rehabilitation, upbringing and education, training, employment, housing, social security, culture, sports and recreation;
to raise public awareness by using public information means to inform the public of the problems of disabled workers;
to take part in the formation of system solutions for disability protection, to propose, encourage and support the measures of competent bodies and professional institutions for the development of social concern for disabled workers and to monitor the realisation of the agreed protection;
to integrate and harmonise the work of its members, to provide them guidelines, expert knowledge and international findings and to cooperate professionally as the umbrella national disability organisation in the formation of individual special social programmes;
to publish publications and professional materials;
to ensure advocacy and create possibilities for self-help and charity to people with disability
to strengthen international ties in the field of activities of the Federation.
The Federation realises its tasks at the international, national, regional and local levels.
The goals of the Federation of Disabled Workers of Slovenia are:
to assert human rights for people with disability,
to integrate people with disability in the society and to participate in everyday life,
non-discrimination of people with disability,
to encourage people with disability to rely on their own capacities and abilities,
independence of people with disability as the users of services,
economic, social, health and legal protection of people with disability,
social justice and equal opportunities for people with disability.
